Eddie Burke (Programme and Lead Coach)

Eddie is a level 4 coach and former ECBs Regional Talent Manager with vast experience in pathway solutions, coach development, parent education and delivering regional programmes at u15 and u17.

Before joining the ECB in 2013, Eddie worked for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club and although left Trent Bridge as Pathway Manager and EPP Head Coach, he worked across all performance environments and was also part of the coach education tutor and assessor workforce.

Andy Brown (Lead Coach)

Andy Brown (Lead Coach)

Andy played for Derbyshire CCC between 1985 and 1992. He scored his maiden first-class century against Northamptonshire, though he was to finish the match with a broken hand, administered by the fearsome Curtly Ambrose.

After retiring as a player Andy moved into coaching and soon qualified as a level 4 ECB coach. After initially working overseas in New Zealand and South Africa, he moved into the role as Head Coach at Suffolk and then in 2008, the top job at his former county, Derbyshire.

Today, Andy runs his successful private coaching business and coaches his beloved club side, Ockbrook & Borrowash, who play in the Derbyshire Premier League.

Paul Johnson (Batting Specialist)

Paul Johnson (Batting Specialist)

Paul joined the staff at Trent Bridge in 1981 and that summer became the youngest player to represent the county in a major competitive game and the youngest batsman to hit a century for the County.

During his 21-year playing career with Nottinghamshire, Paul amassed 20,256 runs and was unlucky not to gain full international honours. He did represent England A when he toured the West Indies in 1991-92.

Paul has coached at all levels including from school cricket to international level. He is currently part of the coaching team at Leicestershire CCC where he works at all levels of the county, from the first team down through their age group pathway.

Peter Such (Spin Bowling Specialist)

Peter Such (Spin Bowling Specialist)

As a player, Peter Such had a 20-year career with Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Essex and England. During that time, as a spin bowler, he took over 1,000 wickets in First XI County Cricket. On 51 occasions he took 5 wickets in an innings and had nine 10 wicket bags.

For the past 10 years, he was National Lead Spin Bowling Coach with the responsibility to develop International Spin Bowlers, put in place programmes that support this development, as well as leading coach education and research into the art of spin bowling.

He has worked with the likes of Monty Panesar, Graeme Swann, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Jack Leach, Matthew Parkinson, Zafar Ansari, Mason Crane and Dominic Bess.

Steve Kirby (Pace Bowling Specialist)

Steve Kirby (Pace Bowling Specialist)

Former paceman, Steve Kirby, claimed 797 wickets during a 12-year professional career in which he represented Yorkshire, Gloucestershire, and Somerset.

Following his retirement from the game, Steve was appointed MCC Head Coach in 2016 and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of their coaching structures, including the MCC Young Cricketers, the MCC Academy based at Lord’s and community coaching programmes.

He then went on in 2018 to join Derbyshire CCC as their pace bowling coach before taking a similar role with Somerset for the 2021 season.

Chris Read (Wicket Keeping Specialist)

Chris Read (Wicket Keeping Specialist)

The former Notts and England keeper is now one of the country’s top wicket keeping coaches.

He walked through the gates of Trent Bridge in 1998 as a promising teenage wicketkeeper. He retired 20 years later as one of most consistent and respected players in English cricket, having played for England, led Nottinghamshire to three major trophies, scored over 20,000 runs, and set a wicket keeping record which is unlikely to ever be beaten.

In total Chris made 52 appearances for England and played for Nottingham CCC from 1998-2017, captaining the side for 10 years.

Today he still works with the England team as a wicket keeping specialist and is also the Director of Cricket at Repton School in Derbyshire.
