Last week marked eight years since the sudden passing of B3’s founder, Russell Evans, at just 52.
Russ enjoyed a distinguished cricketing career, playing professionally for Nottinghamshire CCC and later representing Lincolnshire in minor counties cricket. After retiring from the professional game, he spent over 20 years with Gunn & Moore as Commercial Manager before founding B3 Cricket in 2012. The following year, his passion for the sport led him to become a first-class umpire.
A true cricket man through and through, Russ was honoured by the England team the day after his passing, when they wore black armbands on day one of the 2017 Ashes Test in Adelaide, a testament to the respect he commanded across the game.
Russ is deeply missed by everyone who knew him, and our thoughts remain with his family at this time.
Rest in peace, mate. We all miss you. x
